Special Lent Gathering – Lectio Divina & Liturgy of the Hours
The Latin phrase “lectio divina” may be translated as “divine reading.” Lectio divina is a method for praying with the Scriptures. As one reads and invites the Word to become a transforming lens that brings the events of daily living into focus, one can come to live more deeply and find the presence of God more readily in the events of each day.
Christian prayer tries above all to meditate on the mysteries of Christ, as in lectio divina or the rosary.
Catechism of the Catholic Church - 2708
If you have a chance, please review pages vi-viii for an overview of what to expect.
Please bring your Bible (physical or electronic) as we'll be reading scripture passages. We will be praying with Isaiah 50.

Session 8: Jesus – Crucified Savior Part 2
This sacrifice of Christ is unique; it completes and surpasses all other sacrifices. First, it is a gift from God the Father himself, for the Father handed his Son over to sinners in order to reconcile us with himself. At the same time it is the offering of the Son of God made man, who in freedom and love offered his life to his Father through the Holy Spirit in reparation for our disobedience.
Catechism of the Catholic Church. 614
This is part 2. We will be discussing the Applying Scripture questions on pages 75-76. Please (re)read the bible passages before the gathering.

All Jesus did, said. and suffered had for its aim restoring fallen man to his original vocation.

Man, tempted by the devil, let his trust in his Creator die in his heart and, abusing his freedom, disobeyed God’s command. This is what man’s first sin consisted of. All subsequent sin would be disobedience toward God and lack of trust in his goodness.

In order to understand the story of humanity, which is also our personal story, we need to start at the beginning and examine our origins: how we came to be in the first place, what was the purpose of creating us, what has happened since, and what are God's plans for our future.
